WATERCOLOR CLASSES
Watercolor classes run through May on Mondays at 9 am. The last class will be held May 22.
ZENTANGLE
Zentangle will be held Tuesday, May 2 at 6 pm or Wednesday, May 3 at 9:30 am. There is a $5 supply fee for each class. Sign up at the front desk.
CARRIAGE HILL CRAFT
Paint a glass tumbler on Friday, May 5 at 2 pm in your community room. The program is free and supplies are included. Call Sheila at 897-4826 with questions.
WINE GLASS PAINTING
Adults (age 16 and up), sign up for the wine glass painting on Friday, May 5 at 6:30 pm. Registration is required and limited to 20.
ADULT BOOK CLUB
The adult book club meets every other Tuesday at 1 pm. May 9 – “The Summer before the War” by H. Simonson; May 23 – “Everyone Brave is Forgiven” by C. Cleave. Books will be available at the front desk.
ROOTFINDERS
Rootfinders will meet on Saturday, May 13 at 10 am. Loretta Stockstill will have a presentation, then the group will discuss program plans for the fall.
KNITTING
Knitters of all levels are welcome to meet with our group each Thursday at 5 pm.
WHAT'S BLOOMING?
Have you seen the native flowering redbud trees (Cercis canadensis) encircled by the walkway that surrounds the library’s gazebo? Their delicate, purplish pink buds and blossoms smothering their branches give them away. If you miss seeing them while they are flowering, you can pick them out by their perfectly heart-shaped leaves. In the same family as the common sweet pea, Cercis canadensis serves as a food source for beneficial pollinators such as long-tongued bees. Since they are native trees, they aren’t too fussy about growing conditions, though they prefer to be in the understory. If you want to plant a beautifully beneficial tree, this might be the one for you.
Mary L. Cook Library and Warren County Master Gardeners invite you to take frequent walks around these demonstration gardens. The scenery is always changing, and we’re available to answer any questions you might have.

LEGO LEAGUE MEETING
Are you wanting to learn more about the first Lego League? There will be a meeting on Monday, May 1 at 6:30 pm at the Mary. L Cook Public Library. If you are interested in learning more, please plan to attend the meeting. We will be taking a list of all interested students and adults to begin planning for this year's season. This program doubled in size this last year, so we will also be looking for adult mentors to help with the teams!!
1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN
The 1,000 Books before Kindergarten program encourages families to read at least 1,000 books to their preschooler, birth to age 5, before they enter school. Families can sign up today. Each child will receive a folder to record their books. Earn a sticker for 20 b00ks, and a free book of your very own after you read 100 books.
PRESCHOOLERS THROUGH GRADE 5 - SPRING INTO BOOKS
Hop in and check out 5 books (or more). You will receive a chance for a prize you will love.
PRESCHOOL STORYTIMES
Preschool Storytimes are for 3 - 5 year olds including kindergartners, Thursdays 10:30 - 11:15 am or Thursdays 6:45 - 7:30 pm. Our last storytime will be May 4. We will take a break to prepare for Summer Reading Program.
STORYTIME SUPERSTARS
Come to storytime at the Mary L. Cook Public Library and get a stamp. When you have 10 stamps on your Storytime Superstar card, you will earn a free book. We will continue Storytime Superstars in the fall.
CHAPTERS BOOK CLUB
Chapters Book Club is for those in grades 1 and 2. This group reads one short chapter book a month, and then meets to discuss the book, the author, and do activities. This club meets Tuesday, May 9 from 4:00 – 4:45 pm. Registration is required (presently full). This will be our last meeting until fall.
PINTEREST PARTY FOR PRESCHOOLERS - 5TH GRADE & PARENT
You’re invited to a Pinterest Party Friday, May 12 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm at The Mary L. Cook Public Library. Join us in crafting some of our favorite spring craft pins. Sign up is required. Spots are filling up quickly.
RAPID READERS AND WRITERS
Calling all bookworms (grades 3 – 5) for the Rapid Readers & Writers on Tuesday, May 16 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. We discuss books, play games, try out creative writing, and enjoy a light snack. Registration is required (presently full). This will be our last meeting until fall.
LOOK WHO'S READING BOOK CLUB
The Look Who’s Reading Book Club (grade K) will meet Tuesday, May 16 from 6:00 – 6:30 pm. The group engages in fun learning activities featuring phonics, letter and word writing, and other skills that promote a strong literacy foundation (presently full). This will be our last meeting until fall.
BOOK BUDDIES RETURNING THIS SUMMER
This free enrichment program has been created to help young children (entering grades 1-3) to enhance their reading skills. The Book Buddies will meet for 30-minute sessions on Monday evenings, June 5, June 12, June 19, and June 26. All sessions will begin at 6:45 pm and will end at 7:15 pm.
