Library Closure Updates from Director, Kelly Maloney

Wonderful patrons,

We have missed all of you and are planning our next steps now that some restrictions have been lifted. We are working to follow safety protocols and keep our staff and patrons safe, so restoring services will be a slow process.

As our first step, the library will begin accepting returns in the bookdrop and A/V drop near the front entrance on Monday, May 25th. All items will be quarantined for at least 72 hours before they are checked in and reshelved, so your items may continue to show as checked out to your account for up to one week.

THERE IS NO RUSH to return your items. We have limited space to quarantine materials since we are still under construction, and we don’t want to overwhelm our staff as we work out our new procedures. As always, there are no late fees.

We are offering curbside service as of Monday, June 1st. Each patron may reserve up to 10 items, preferably through ‘My Account’ at https://www.mlcook.lib.oh.us/. We will be available to answer phones, take your orders, and deliver items to your car Monday through Friday from Noon to 6 p.m. It would be helpful if you are looking at the library’s online catalog as you place your order.

When your items are ready, we will contact you to pick them up. When you arrive, please call the number on the sign at your parking space (513) 897-4826). Staff will deliver the items to your trunk. Patrons are responsible for placing any returns in the bookdrop; staff will not accept returns curbside.

We do not have a date scheduled for reopening the building to the public at this time. The board will continue to monitor the situation and consider the safety of our staff and patrons in making any decisions.

Our summer reading program for children, teens, and adults began on May 18th. You can register through the READsquared app. Keep an eye on social media for some fun events and programs throughout the summer.
