SUMMER READING PROGRAM

 Calling all superheroes - no matter what your age. Babies to seniors can sign up for our Summer Reading Program beginning Wednesday, June 3 from 9 am to 8 pm.  Get ready for fun and prizes as you read your way through the summer.  Show off your super reading powers!

ADULT BOOK CLUB

 The next book club meeting will be Tuesday, June 2 at 1 pm. Pick up The Tea House on Mulberry Street by Sharon Owens.  The group will meet once a month through the summer, with the next meeting being held on Tuesday, July 7th at 1 pm.

CANCELED -MOBILE MAMMOGRAPHY UNIT

A mammography van will make a visit to our library on Friday, June 12th from 12:30 pm-2:30 pm.  Appointments must be made through Mercy Health at 513-686-3300. You may be eligible for financial assistance if you have no insurance or have a high deductible.  Take advantage of this opportunity!

ROBERT GILBERT MEMORIAL/RECEPTION

 The family of Robert J. Gilbert (Bottleworks) will hold a reception at the library immediately after his memorial service at Miami Cemetery on Sunday, June 28th at 1 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter or to The Friends of the Mary L. Cook Public Library. Join them in their celebration of his life.

KNITTING/ QUILTING

Knitters meet every Thursday at 5 pm. The quilting group will meet the third Wednesday of each month - June 17th at 5:30 pm.  All are welcome to join.

ROOTFINDERS ON SUMMER BREAK

Our genealogy group will not meet during the summer, but that doesn't mean you don't have a summer assignment.  Search for family info while you're out and about, and come back ready to share with the group in September.

YOUTH EVENTS FOR JUNE :

    EVERY HERO HAS A STORY!                             

The Mary L. Cook Public Library has lots of Summer Fun for all ages, birth through adult!  Be rewarded for enjoying books and improving your reading skills during the 2015 SUMMER READING FUN June 3rd through August 1st.  Reading & Registration begins Wednesday, June 3rd at 9:00 am!  We will have games and prizes for those who register on the first day.          

 Stop in to register your little one for this fun program.

WONDERFUL & WACKY WEDNESDAYS!

 Each Wednesday we have an exciting new program.

 *Please attend the program based on the grade level your child will be entering in the fall. 

Wednesday, June 10th at 11:00 am – Noon - Mr. Remy & Friends - Magic and Laughs - Ages 3 yrs. - entering 1st grade.

 Drop in anytime between 9 am and 8 pm --  Super Hero Scavenger Hunt --  Drop in to find all the superheroes. Ages 3 yrs. and up.

11:00 am – Noon --  Caesar Creek Super Heroes --   Listen to a park ranger tell us about the heroes in nature. --  Ages 3 yrs. – entering 1st grade.

1:00 pm – 2:00 pm --  Caesar Creek Super Heroes --   Listen to a park ranger tell us about the heroes in nature.  Entering 2nd – entering 5th grade.

 Thursday, June 4that 7:00 pm --  Aerials’s Acrobatic Team Performance  in our front parking lot.  Come out and watch these very talented athletes. 

 Monday, June 8th at 6:00 pm --  Miss Jen & Friends Puppet Show --  Bring the kids for lots of laughs.

 Tuesday, June 9th at 6:45 pm – 7:15 pm Pizza Garden --   Preschoolers through entering 5th grade. Meet us in the gazebo and we will plant a pizza garden in the park beside the library.  *Rain date - Tuesday, June 16. 

 Thursday, June 11th at 6:45 pm – 7:45 pm Candy Bingo --  All ages.  Play Bingo for candy prizes. 

  Friday, June 18th at 6:45 pm – 8:00 pm Family Movie Night.  Bring the family and join us for a movie and popcorn. 

LITTLE EXPLORERS

 The Mary L. Cook Public Library has a summer reading program for birth to 3 yrs.  Stop in to find out how your little one can join the summer fun at the library.  It is never too early to start preparing children for reading success!

JOIN THE FAMILY READING PROGRAM!

 (You will receive a Family Record Sheet and rules when you register.)  Every time you and your family read together each of five days for at least 15 minutes you will receive a chance to win a prize the entire family can enjoy!

 TREASURE YOUR TREASURE CARDS...

 (You will receive a Treasure Card when you register.)  Check out books at least once a week & get your treasure card stamped.

Come to the Wonderful Wednesdays at the library & get your treasure card stamped.  When you have 7 stamps on your treasure card, turn your card into the desk. Your treasure card will be entered in the drawing to win the secret treasure that’s in the treasure chest.  This item has a $50.00 value.

 

  ATTENTION TEENS: UNMASK! (SUMMER READING PROGRAM FOR TEENS)

 There’s summer fun just for teens (grades 6 - 12) at the Library!  Read & be rewarded! Listen & be rewarded! Read to earn a chance for $$$, gift cards, candy and coupons to pay your book fines.  Grand prizes are $100.00 cash and a Kindle Fire!

  Special Programs for Teens – 6th grade – 12th grade.

Friday, June 12th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm:  Zentangle --  Fun method of doodling.  Must register for this program.

Friday, June 26th from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm:  Pizza and Movie --  Must register for this program, library will be closed to the public during this program.

Book Buddies - returning this summer!

 This free enrichment program has been created to help young children (entering grades 1-3) to enhance their reading skills.  The Book Buddies will meet for 30 minute sessions on Monday evenings, June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29, July 6, and July 13.  All sessions will begin at 6:45 pm and will last 30 minutes.   You must register for this program.
