IMAGINATION LIBRARY

In July 2019, the Ohio legislature included $5 million over the next two years to jump start the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library, providing matching funds to local dollars raised for the program. Governor and Mrs. DeWine and local community leaders are creating county-wide programs in all of Ohio’s 88 counties. Over 60 Ohio counties have a limited form of the program.  Few have county-wide programs and Warren County will be one of the first.

Warren County’s five library districts have formed the Warren County Literacy Fund.  The Warren County Literacy Fund has been established by Franklin-Springboro Public Library, Lebanon Public Library, Mary L. Cook Public Library, Mason Public Library, and Salem Township Public Library to finance a three-year pilot program and partner with the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library and The Dolly Parton Imagination Library to provide a new book each month to every child in Warren County from birth to age five.

1000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN

In August 2014, the Mary L. Cook Public Library launched a new literacy program, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten.  We have 31 readers who have completed the goal of 1000 books! If you read your child one book a day, she/he will reach 1000 books in under three years.  Though the goal of this program is to improve literacy skills, but even more, it’s about time spent together reading.  Stop in today and ask us how to register your child for this program.
